ABOUT ME

I’m an introverted extrovert who loves my partner/family/friends, film, books, food, traveling, and a kick ass tiramisu.

I’ve always been passionate about photography, I’d definitely say that its what encompasses all of my loves into one art form.

Capturing moments that mean the most to you is the reason why I love what I do. A chance at preserving some of the most important occasions of our lives is a responsibility I hold dear to my heart. I also understand the sacredness of memories, as someone who’s lost two of my most important family members, I find myself looking back at images or videos that transport me back to a time where they were alive. Through these realizations, my business’s mantra was born; “Photos that bring memories back to life”. At the end of the day, we’re all on this earth experiencing what it means to be a human for the first time, we might as well try our best to remember it.

Photography & film have given me the opportunity to outwardly display my inner thoughts and creations and bring them to life. I love describing my work as “My Mind through a Lens”. At times when I don’t know what to say: I create a concept, shoot it, and boom- there’s the missing puzzle piece to my crowded cranium (I have adhd, which can make things chaotic and loud at times).

I attended Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts- where I’m using my learned skills as the gift that keeps on giving. Nothing makes me happier than the reactions I receive when clients (who shortly after our sessions become lifelong friends), receive their final gallery. I’m honored that I get to capture the most important moments of your life. I’m grateful that my creativity has facilitated a livelihood for me and it’s something I genuinely look forward to doing everyday. Whether I’m photographing a fun and abstract portrait session or the most important day of your life, I don’t take it for granted.

I try to balance out my other hobbies as much as possible. I’m an avid reader, I love to transport into the world of a protagonists narrative. Cooking is a new venture in my life, exciting and experimental. Film has and will always hold a very prominent priority within my hobbies, whether for pleasure or for education, (I’m always trying to learn creatively from the minds of other artists) film is my best friend and favorite pastime all in one.

Friends and family are at the forefront of my happiness in life. My experiences and memories with the people that I love the most is what drives me to spread that joy and care into my business and character.

Lastly, (but most importantly), my very own love story is what motivates my work, my creativity, my bliss. My partner singlehandedly creates a space that has opened my eyes to the beauty of love. Not just my love either, the love stories of each and every soul I have the honor of collaborating with. I’ll admit it, I’m the first one crying during ANY wedding speeches (I’m also a cancer moon, okay?). My heightened sense of vulnerability and compassion for the lives and loves of the people I get to work with is truly all thanks to my partner. I’m grateful that I can experience a life-time where being loved and loving is the easiest and most gratifying thing I have ever done. Love. It’s the fuel to every great relationship; familial, romantic, camaraderie.

Now if you’ve made it this far, thank you for taking the time to humanize me a little. Choosing a photographer for any event in your life is a huge task, and I’m esteemed that you’re here right now, possibly during a photographer exploration, looking for your next provider, and I just might be the one! Anyway, I hope this tiny zine-like bio page helps you better understand who “Ashlyn” is; not-just-a-photographer but also a pretty damn cool human (I think, I’m trying out this confidence thing).
